If your uncollectible status application is approved by the IRS, they will designate you as a taxpayer who is Currently Not Collectible (CNC). At this point, they will no longer attempt to collect taxes from you for a set period of time.
Your status as a CNC is temporary, and will be reviewed from time to time until the IRS determines you are able to pay taxes or they can no longer collect from you because the statute of limitations has expired.
